Registration for Get Publishing 2009: Writing Across Borders is now open! Conference details and on-line registration instructions are available at www.getpublishing.ca.

As with past events, Writing Across Borders will connect writers with publishers, editors, agents and fellow writers

In addition, this year's program will help writers spot new opportunities to publish across borders of language, geography, genre, medium and culture.

Highlights:

  • Join us for the Friday night wine and cheese reception, where local award-winning author and poet Thomas Trofimuk will share his recent cross-genre and cross-border success stories
  • At the Saturday morning keynote session, Annari van der Merwe, director of Random House South Africa's Umuzi Publishing, will offer insights of value to writers at any point in their career
  • Choose from nine professional development sessions, with topics as fascinating and diverse as The Multipreneurial Writer, Copyrights and Copy Wrongs, and Lost in Translation
  • Learn about hot topics and hot markets during the working lunch
  • Take part in the notoriously popular "pitch camp" where you'll spend 15 uninterrupted minutes with a publisher, editor, or agent
  • New this year! Meet with an experienced writer at the mentor's cafĂ© and learn
  • Browse tables at the lively marketplace where our sponsors and other publishing and writing organizations will showcase their services

The conference takes place May 1 and 2, 2009, at the Robbins Health Learning Centre at the downtown campus of Grant MacEwan. Please join us.
